I'm getting ready to take delivery of a used (375 hrs) 1997 JD 755 w/ a new #7hoe and and new #70 loader. It also includes a 60" mid-mount mower, turf tires and a set of R4 wheels/tires. This is my first tractor and I'm having somemisgivings (buyers remorse?) about the usefullness of a backhoe on such a small tractor. I plan on using the backhoe primarily for shallow digging and stump removal, sort of a "super shovel" if you will, to spare my bad back. Any comments on this combination?

Since late summer, using my Ford 1710 (24 hp) and Kelley B600 hoe (6.5' depth):
I trenched for an underground electrical service; trenched for electrical service to two out buildings and dug a hole for a basement walk in. Next year, I may dig out the foundations for repair and installation of a frost barrier;
put in 1 or 2 septic systems, a water recycling tank and various tasks in a
demolition and rebuilding.

I couldn't contemplate doing any of these things without the back hoe. It's hard getting a contractor to work in the country. Even if contractors will come
when they have nothing else to do, they generally have large hoes. I couldn't
have saved a locally famous apple tree without my baby hoe on my baby tractor.

Don't think you'll be sorry with the hoe unless you try heavy digging and tear
up your tractor. ....

Forgot to mention that there have been several threads on this board since
mid summer that deal with tractor back hoe safety. Back hoes are dangerous, and
it's a good idea to look up the old threads if you haven't already done so. ....

Thanks for your response Tom. I got my tractor and REALLY love it. I haven't
mowed with it yet, but the backhoe is a small demon. Yes, I have to DIG out the oak stumps, but it goes through clay and loose cobblew with no trouble. Love my little green machine. ....
